The transition to ICD-10 is a daunting task, and the magnitude of the aftermath is still unknown. With the many risk factors that exist, providers have identified dual coding as an important strategy that will help them prepare. Although providers will rely heavily on coders who are well versed in both ICD-9 and ICD-10 code sets, solutions that will help maintain productivity and accuracy levels are a key factor in a successful transition to ICD-10.
Utilization of solutions that support dual coding, will give providers a distinct advantage in preparation for ICD-10, and the benefits will continue well beyond the deadline.
